To meet the youth mental health crisis, we offer counselors the opportunity to not only become eligible for certification of 学校辅导员, but also meet requirements for licensure in the state of Maryland. We invite you to explore our M.A. 或米.Ed. 程序, or one of three post-master's options.

罗耀拉的米.A. 和M.Ed. degrees in School Counseling both lead to certification as 学校辅导员. 研究生 students complete a 60-hour 程序 that includes school experience prior to graduation.

教育学硕士(M.Ed.)

Students enrolled in the M.Ed. 程序 complete two electives (6-credits) in school 咨询. Elective offerings are available in courses pertaining to College Advising, Diagnosis and Treatment, Mindfulness, Crisis and Trauma, School Counselor Leadership, Social Emotional Development and Instructional Strategies to Engage Students in the 教室. M.Ed. leads to certification as 学校辅导员.

文学硕士(M.A.)

Students enrolled in the M.A. 程序 complete a master’s thesis in lieu of school 咨询的选修课. This 程序 of study is designed for the practitioner-researcher who wishes to further examine school counselor practice. Mentored by 程序 faculty, students enrolled in the M.A. 程序 complete a master's thesis in lieu of electives. M.A. leads to certification as 学校辅导员.

Students complete a supervised, 100-hour in-school experience throughout the 15-week 学期. 实习 students should expect to work in schools during the school day, generally one full day or two half days. 实习 can be taken either in the fall 或者春季学期. 实习 students receive supervision from a Loyola professor and professional school counselor throughout the 15-week experience.

During practicum, students provide individual and small group 咨询 and classroom instruction within schools. Further, practicum students are exposed to school culture and observe consultation practices.

实习

Students complete a supervised, 600-hour in-school experience. 实习可以是 over two academic 学期s or in one academic 学期. Interns should expect to work in schools during the regular school day, either 3 days a week (two academic 学期s) or 5 days a week (one academic 学期). Interns receive supervision from a Loyola professor and professional school counselor throughout the 15-week experience. The internship is offered during the fall and spring 学期s.

Interns deliver direct and indirect student services that align with the goals of a comprehensive school 咨询 程序. Interns build upon what they learned in 实习 to further their 咨询 skills related to individual 咨询, group 咨询, and classroom instruction. Students use evidence-based interventions and evaluate the effectiveness of those interventions. Additionally, interns are mentored on how to collaborate with stakeholders to implement a comprehensive school 咨询 程序.

认证 & 许可

罗耀拉的米.Ed. 和M.A. in School 咨询项目s are fully accredited by the Council for 认证 of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) through 2029年3月. As a CACREP-accredited 程序, school 咨询 master's students complete a 60-credit hour 程序, in which 9 credits are in 实习 and 实习.

The master's 程序s are recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

These 程序s meet the educational requirements necessary for licensure as a Maryland licensed professional counselor and certification as 学校辅导员 in Maryland.
